These pictures were taken on a holiday trip to Panama in January 2008. This was a two-week roundtrip visiting four very different destinations: Panama City, the mountain area, Caribbean cost and the rainforest. And the famous Panama Canal was a bonus.
The trip was very successful and I recommend Panama as a travel destination (and also the neighbour country Costa Rica).
This is the concise picture series. A more comprehensive one exists in the menu, too.

| The public transportation of Panama City is based on a fleet of "Red Devils", old retired U.S. school buses, that are clearly at the end of their life cycle, but very colorfully painted. The tariff is harmonized, but the routes are not centrally co-ordinated. There are no route maps, but every bus owner drives wherever he wants. |

| The traffic in Panama City is a complete chaos. In practice there are no traffic lights or pedestrian crossings, but on the other hand especially during the rush hours walking is easy because the traffic is usually totally stuck. |
